The Story of This Model
This classic Venetian chandelier model has its roots in the early 18th century and is characterized by intricate arabesques of leaves and flowers, enriched with colored glass. Beyond being a celebration of nature, these decorations were introduced by Murano glassmakers to distinguish themselves from other productions emerging on the market, such as Bohemian crystal, which allowed for greater light refraction due to its facets. In response to these new tastes, Venetian production had to innovate by developing increasingly refined forms.

How is Bertilla Made?
This multicolor Murano glass chandelier is entirely handmade in the Murano furnaces. Bertilla features a central stem worked in balloton (a textured pattern), surrounded by flowers and leaves worked in rigadin (a technique for creating raised, parallel lines). The chandelier’s arms end with cups matching the same pattern as the stem and are edged to resemble petals. Decorative pendants resembling buds frozen in the act of blooming are added to the lower part of the arms.
